Airfix synonymous with model building
The English model making brand Airfix was founded in 1939 by Nicholas Kove, Airfix grew over the course of the 1960s and '70s as the plastic kit modeling hobby became increasingly popular. The range mainly consists of plastic construction kits of aircraft, ships, army vehicles and car models.
In 2006, Airfix, together with the Humbrol model paint, was acquired by the company Hornby Hobbies from Margate, England. This manufacturer has revived the Airfix brand. A lot of attention is paid not only to the choice of model, but also to the fit of the models. In addition, the packaging has been updated and now has a red appearance. All in all, the manufacturer Hornby is now able to supply construction kits with an excellent price-quality ratio with the Airfix brand.
Airfix products are available in scales: 1:76, 1:72, 1:48 & 1:24. The Airfix construction kits are tested and described time and time again in the various hobby magazines.
